Many times the hustle and bustle of the metro swell the desire for the good old rustic days. Fortunately, Delhi and NCR are blessed with few such locations, offering lickable delicacies. Food connoisseurs can enjoy the choicest of dishes at the best of the places. Nice food, laid back ambiance all lead to a remarkable experience.

Desi Vibes with a village ambiance, funky décor, plush seating arrangements make it a nice dining option. On arrival, one will be welcomed with Jalzeera which is not only refreshing but acts as an appetizer. One can find a lot of patchwork art, gracing the walls and even the tables. The delicate needlework on pink and yellow fabric lends a festive feel to the whole place.

The wide array of dishes takes one on a culinary journey across North India. But the food is majorly inspired by Punjab and any connoisseur can witness the inclusion of traditional Indian spices in the cuisine. With minute attention to even the smallest detail, the guests can state their own oil preference, for cuisine preparation.

STARTERS

In the starters section, Desi Vibes Ke Khaas Dahi Ke Kabab is the show stealer. The delicate combination of yogurt and milk powder lends a sweet taste to the preparation. A word of caution the Dahi Kababs are heavy and don’t go for more than one or two. You want to explore the other range of dishes too. Another much-recommended dish is the Bharwan Khumb. The chefs have generously stuffed mushrooms with minced mushrooms and cheese. Coated with the paste of yogurt and basil, it is grilled on tandoor to lend it a smoky taste.

In the non-veg, the Murg Malai Jafrani deserves special mention. It is recommended for kids, who often cannot be served with spicy food. The boneless chicken breast is richly marinated in cream and glazed in tandoor. The serving is good for 2 people.

The appetizers set the mood, for the food journey on which we were about to embark.

MAIN COURSE

The winners in the main course segment are the Amritsari Paneer Tikka Lasooni. In North India, winters are setting in, and this dish sets the perfect winter vibes. The cubes of paneer are marinated in the thick onion-garlic gravy. It sizzles your senses and will leave you craving for more. Try it out with rice or mint lacha parantha.

I have kadhi at many places but Desi Vibes special kadhi is a class apart. The mirch pakodas are blended well with the tangy yogurt. This is highly recommended for the foodies who are blessed with a spicy palette.

The Murg Kadhai reminded me of the mountains, tender chicken pieces were fried in a kadhai, with local Indian spices and herbs. The taste of the spices blends well with the chicken pieces, lending each chicken an individual flavor. The chefs of Desi Vibes have picked up a few useful tips from our grandmother’s kitchen. Due to this, the food has a homemade flavor to it.

DESSERT

In the dessert section, they have regular Indian deserts. We were so full by the time dinner ended, we only have a generous helping of Rasmalai. It was soft, had crushed cardamom and dry fruits in it.
