My Happily Ever After fall under chic literature. It is written by Sanjay Sharma and published by Shristi Publishers.

BLURB

Keshav is a small-town guy, who lands up in Delhi for his engineering degree in a well-known college. The twist in his tale is- he does not want to be an engineer. He wants to be an author. When fate brings him face to face with Aditi, he is stumped by her beauty and heavenly voice. Like him, her dreams lie elsewhere. She aspires to be a singer and not an engineer.

They bond over their dreams and passion, and a deep bond is forged. But just when things are going great between the two, a turning point pulls them apart. While she leaves him to pursue her dreams, he plunges into depression and anxiety.

Introduction

For starters, I would say the writing is heavily influenced by Chetan Bhagat. In fact the first half of the book is eerily similar to Chetan Bhagat’s – Half Girlfriend. It is easier for any writer to get influenced by the other successful ones in the field. But at the end of the day, any writer’s unique style is the deal maker or breaker. This is where I see Sanjay Sharma lacking, throughout the book, I had this uneasy feeling, I have read this story before. Also towards the end, it became more preachy. Good novel or story should not be preachy, the message should be woven in the story, and the audience should derive the key message themselves.

Plot

Vikram Oberoi believes that no one can touch him, he has a good corporate career, beautiful wife but his larger than life sex appetite is ready to ruin everything. Also, in line is the revenge played by Alpha group (we are not talking about werewolves but about a technology giant), who are not ready to give up and want to bring NexGen Technologies down at every cost. The rivalry turns ruthless, with employees being the pawns, whose career and lives are being manipulated by those in the power. The story is a deadly cocktail of human greed, uninhibited desires, money, and revenge.
