REVIEWER’S TAKE

This book highlights medical fatalities and how it affects the family. Also, in a way, the story highlights the fact that in times of adversities everyone walks out. Sadly when you need them the most, all the relatives and friends walkout.

But the writing lacks maturity, it seems more of a book written as a tribute to wife then creating any major impact. The circumstances narrated by the author is like faced by the majority of Indian. They come from a small towns, try to make a mark, shift jobs and few get a chance to go abroad. All the sacrifices done by the other family members, we all have faced money crunch in our life. I agree the multiple deaths in the family makes the situation tough.

My problem with the story is it has a myopic viewpoint, filled with me and myself. Nowhere  I managed to see the bigger picture. In a few places I laughed at the hypocrisy of the story, the author is saddened by the dowry system and the way they have to give dowry in the sister’s wedding. But then when the same happened in his marriage, he remained quiet and was in pain. Dude, no one wants your pain, take an action, tell the family, you will not take a penny and will build the house together.

I would definitely not recommend this book.

PLOT

Ashu is the youngest son who is well-loved. His father and grandfather dies, leaving all the responsibility on Ashu and his brother. They both try to build a life together, he clears the engineering exam and joins a college. But in unfortunate circumstances even his brother passed away. The family’s responsibility falls on his shoulders. He joins a job, where he met his future wife Disha, they build a home together when Ashu is stuck with a liver problem.

For the rest, you need to read the book.

VERDICT

  • This book is not worth the time.
  • Regular Plot.
  • A myopic view of the story.
