MASSAGE- A WAY OF LIFE

As life is becoming hectic and stressful, the much-needed thing is taking care of oneself. Apart from proper diet and exercise, massage plays an important role in a person’s well being. It helps in unwinding, reduction of stress levels, keeping skin youthful.

India has a long tradition with massages, be it a new mother or someone suffering from joint pain, the first thing suggested to them, is a good massage. The form of massage changes as per the needs.

Different countries follow different massage rituals, in India Ayurvedic massages such as Abhayangam, Kalari, Potli form of massages are hugely popular. These are not simple massages but also contain loads of health benefits.

With these significant health advantages, still, the massages remain elusive to one stratum of society. The key reason behind this is the thought, they are too expensive to be enjoyed regularly. When someone thinks about massage, the whole elaborate spa setup comes to mind. Visiting a spa entails a sizeable cost, but one can easily avail the benefits of the same massage, even from the confines of home. In fact, it can be a good way of bonding with your partner, where you give light and intimate massages to each other.

The most important question to be asked is- Which oil to use for massage? Opt for Organic Coconut Oil, boil it first, and then once it cools down, basing on the oil quantity add a few drops of Lavender or Tea Tree Oil to it. Both have their respective benefits. Shake the oil well and store it in any bottle for later use.

In winters especially in North India the coconut oil can get frozen, take warm water in the bowl, and put the bottle in it. The temperature will melt the oil and it will be ready for application.

HOW TO MASSAGE?

Use long strokes to massage your body, but where joints are concerned massage them in a circular motion. Not only on joints but circular motion will also be used while massaging the heart, stomach, or other delicate parts of the body.

Do leave the oil for one hour, so that the body can absorb it fully.

I am a great fan of massages and do a lot of experimentation where oils are concerned. Be it sesame or coconut oil, I add 2-3 drops of Lavender or Tea Tree Natural Oil from Vasu Healthcare.  Both the oils have their own advantages and have historic data backing their significance.

The tea tree oil comes from the leaves of a small tree, which is found in Queensland and New South Wales Australia. The leaves of this tree, when pressed releases oil, which was used by Aborigines in the medicines. These medicines were mainly for curing cough and skin related ailments.

Very rightly said that the idea of massages are associated with an elaborate set up of a spa. But the way you’ve broken down the myth and suggested the oil, it looks like an easy job that can be done in the comfort of home, and of course without getting a hole in the pockets. I’d love to use the tea tree oil that you suggested.
