Get On A Mystery Circuit

The world is filled with many places, where the unexplained phenomenon occurs almost regularly. Scientists across the globe are trying to figure out the key reasons behind these occurrences. Few of the mysteries are solved, few are contributed to the supernatural, a few to the presence of aliens, and rest has baffled humans without providing any plausible experience.

The explorer in me often prompted me to make a bucket list of all such places, which defy all logic. Please note there are many such places, but for the sake of the article, I have picked a few. In fact, I read somewhere every place on earth has the presence of mystery, one needs eyes to see them. Also, do remember our vision is limited only to an extent, and even if we go by scientific logic there are many dimensions that are untouched.

LET’S START THE JOURNEY

Magnetic Hill India

Let’s start closer home, the  Magnetic Hill is located 30 km from Leh in Laddakh. Put the vehicle in neutral mode and one can find the vehicle moving on its own uphill at a speed of 10-20 km/hr, defying gravity. The famous myth around it suggests this is the road that leads to heaven. Though scientifically it is believed that the place has a huge presence of magnetic force, which helps the vehicles to move up on their own.

It showcases an interesting phenomenon and deserves a visit once in a lifetime.

Mysterious Triangles

When we talk of the mysterious triangle, the first name that comes to our mind is the Bermuda triangle, but now there are more triangles like the one mentioned existing on the planet. All these places give a clear record of missing ships, boats, and even planes in few cases.

Lake Michigan Triangle also referred to as Michigan Triangle stretches from  Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Ludington, Michigan, and south to Benton Harbor. The triangle accounted for a number of mysterious happenings, starting from 1891 when a schooner Thomas mysteriously disappeared with his crew of seven sailors.

The most bizarre case was when Captain George R. Donner disappeared from his cabin while guiding his boat on the icy water.

Many have blamed UFOs for these disappearances, whereas some say the triangle is a time vortex, and it can bend time. I know this sounds something on the lines of watching Avengers.

Dead Sea Japan

Also, known as the Dragon’s Triangle is a distant cousin to Bermuda Triangle, it is located near the Japanese coast in the Pacific Ocean, is one of the twelve Vile Vortices located around the earth. For initiators, Vile Vortices are those places on the planet with the presence of strong electromagnetic waves, than any other place on the earth.

An interesting legend narrates Kublai Khan the grandson of Genghis Khan, twice sent his troops to make inroads in Japan, but he lost his vessels and 40,000 crew members to the triangular area. And recently the remnants of the Mongolian fleets were discovered by divers and marine biologists.

There are many explanations floating around the phenomenon, right from the supernatural to scientific. One of the culprits is again Vile Vortice, another one points the finger at the presence of subsea volcanoes in the area, they are also responsible for the vanishing of the ships.

Whatever might be the case it is definitely an interesting place and worth visiting by the adventurous souls.

Eternal Flame

Located deep within the Chestnut Ridge Park in New York, is the 35-foot Eternal Flame Waterfall. The image of a small and steady flame, under massive torrents of water, will make anyone stop dead in their track.

There are a lot of reasons cited for the same, few contribute to the methane gas which is trapped under the rocks, and often leaks out from the fissures, causing the phenomenon. But many in the science community deny this explanation. Therefore this beautiful yet mysterious flame is enigmatic in all the senses.

I will recommend enjoying the natural marvel, few things are meant to be enjoyed and not to be operated in our mind.

Closer home in Himachal Pradesh, India, we have a similar eternal flame at Jawal Devi. Again the cause of it is not explained to date.

Suicide Forest Japan

Can you imagine a forest where people go in order to commit suicide? There is much folklore associated with the same, few belief the evil forces or Yurei present in the forest, force a person to take their life. It is located in Aokigahara in Japan, and no fixed statistics around suicides are established, as the forest is so lush that many corpses go undetected.

This place is not for the leisurely stroll, the trees often twist and turn organically, their roots winding across the forest floor. Many people have confessed a sense of desolation, helplessness engulfing them while entering the forest. Hanging from the tree is the common form of suicide here.

If you are a dark tourist then you can definitely visit this place,  only suggestion don’t venture deep and do not visit it alone at any cost.

Devil’s Bridge Kromlau Germany

There are so many beautiful unexplained mysteries present in the world, located in the Rakotzbrücke Germany Devil’s Bridge is definitely one of them. One look at it and you will be reminded of the famous Netflix series -The Strange Things, due to its upside-down quality.

The bridge is semicircular in nature, but the reflection in water completes the circle. This parabolic bridge dates back to the 1860s and is definitely one of the most beautiful bridges in the world.

There is a strange story attached to the bridge, the builder of such a bridge has an agreement with the devil, the first life walking on the bridge will be given as a sacrifice. In most of the cases, Satan was tricked, as it was some animal who crossed the bridge first thus sparing human life. But Rakotzbrücke bridge is an exception to this, here the builder gave away his life as per the deal.

It definitely offers a fairy tale experience for all nature lovers.

Do let me know if there are any interesting mysterious places, which you would like to share?

What an interesting collection of sights that defy logic. As a pragmatic person, I would always be trying to find the scientific reasons for different occurances. But always interesting to hear the local legends. The Devil’s Bridge looks far more beautiful than the story behind it.

You have included so many interesting locations! I always try to find unique, sometimes unexplainable places! I love that you included the Eternal Flame. I was able to visit last year and it is quite the scene! The Suicide Forest sounds like such a sad place to visit, and certainly someplace I would dare to visit alone.

  19. Archana Singh says

Great suggestions. Have done many of them. Let me tell you a secret – Magnetic Hill isn’t a magnetic hill at all. It’s just an optical illusion. The road is actually going downwards but it has been painted in a way it looks as if it’s going against gravity. This illusion has become a great tourist magnet.

    1. gypsy says

Yes, Archana what you mentioned is totally true.

To have a bucket list of dark/ mysterious places on the planet is a brilliant idea! Devil’s Bridge Kromlau Germany was always on my bucket list but I had no idea that there was a dark story associated with it, now I am even more intrigued! I can certainly categorize myself as a dark tourist, haha. The suicide forest in Japan also recently surfaced on social media and sparked my curiosity.
