Travelling can be therapeutic for few, for others it can be a way of exploring the self. I frequently go on solo trips and love the experience, it is liberating and by the time I am back from the trip, I have explored something new about myself. Now as romantic as this may sound, solo traveling can at times be quiet daunting. But let not this fact deter you, there are many people going solo these days and if you want some motivation, would suggest you watch the movie “Eat Pray Love” starring Julia Roberts.

Solo traveling is an adventure trip which requires a lot of research. While traveling solo there are few things to be kept in mind. According to me, the most important aspect is the backpack. Trust me a good backpack means half the battle won. One can also opt for trolleys or suitcases, but imagine dragging it everywhere. Also a few places, trolleys become uncomfortable, especially in the case of the cobbled street, if one is traveling to Europe or England. I always opt for Skybags backpack because of the comfort factor. Find new arrivals of Skybags backpack online and pick the one which suits you best.

But before opting for a Skybags backpack, understand your travel requirement well. If you travel to get the best possible click and for dressing up, then you need to carry a lot of clothes, footwear and accessories, in such a case opting a backpack is not a good idea. Skybags Backpacks are for those travelers who want to travel light, thus if you are aiming to wear 20 different dresses on the 15 days trip then this is surely not a viable option for you. They are more suitable for adventure or experiential travelers.

I will share a few important tips to be considered while purchasing a backpack, without proper research and knowledge, shopping for the same becomes a tedious affair.

  1. Size

    – Going for the right size is very important. The backpack should be in proportion to your body. If it is too big there is a fear of back pain or toppling down. If it is too small, it will not serve the purpose. The weight needs to be equally distributed, otherwise be ready for physical discomforts. Though on an average 40-60 liters of a backpack is good. Generally, the airlines permit 15 kg under check-in baggage. You can easily put this much of stuff in a 40 liters backpack.

  2. Material

-Backpack is not a tissue paper, it will be your long term companion. Proper attention should be given to the material while purchasing one. Go for backpacks made of abrasion-resistant nylon or another lightweight, waterproof fabric. It might rain so waterproof fabric helps in saving the contents.

  3. Types

There are 2 types of backpacks front loading and top loading. My personal favorite is front loading, they have a zip at the side, in case I want to pick something which is lying at the bottom it becomes easier to access. In the case of top loading, there is a hole at the top, so to access things lying at the bottom, one needs to remove all the content. I find it irritating as well as inconvenient, moreover in case of top loading even after putting everything back, there is a constant doubt of leaving something behind.

  4. Compartments
Ideally a backpack needs to have separate compartments for putting toiletries, undergarments, laptops, passports-tickets, etc. It makes life much easier; one basically knows which compartment to open for a particular thing.
  5. Padding

Proper padding is must in case of a good backpack. Padded shoulder straps help in putting less pressure on shoulders and also take away pressure from the lower back. Similarly lumbar shaped pack aids in even distribution of the weight. Do remember backpacks are generally carried by self, proper padding helps in reducing discomforts. While traveling solo a bad backpack is a sheer nightmare.

There are many websites selling Skybags backpacks. Understand your requirement and then go for the best fit.
